Lil Wayne is expected to do over 900,000 in his first week. It's good to see someone do such competitive numbers that haven't been seen since Kanye West's "Graduation". I'm not sure about how I feel about Wayne at the moment. He dogged mixtapes prior to his album coming out, when that is the genre that made him so popular and arguably, his mixtapes are more enjoyable than his album and probably the reason that the public was so juiced to go pick up Tha Carter III. I'm kinda disappointed that he probably will not release another mixtape. The Lil Wayne record was a little disappointing, I mean its decent and all but it didn't blow my mind like I wanted it too. Nevertheless, there are some bangers.....
Ashanti's 'The Declaration" was a suprise to me. As I prepared to listen to it, I was not expecting to like it the way that I did. The production of this album is great and Ashanti has always been a talented songwriter albeit that she doesn't have the greatest voice. My 3 favorite songs are "Good Good" "Things You Make Me Do" feat. Robin Thicke, and "Girlfriend". Ashanti came into Billboard at #6 doing about 80,000 her first week. Not bad, but for her past standards, not good..... Nevertheless this is a standup record.

Humph... Smear campaign in effect.... All I can say about this album is that it made me reminisce about this one....

N.E.R.D. never fails to be creative and refreshing.... which is why I like them, they always bring something that is different that everything else I'm listening to. Be sure to check out AntiMatter, LoveBOMB, Everybody Noise of course... hell jus listen to the whole thing as you cruise this summer.
